Mindnumbing Facts
Date: January 24, 2004
Duration: 1:50 pm~ 3:00 pm
Weather: Sunny, cold. 5° F

This park is located 20 miles north of Two Harbors on MN Highway 61.

Still sunny for my second park of the day. Lots of snow in this area. I've been to this park a couple of times before. I've got summer shots, fall shots, and it's time for a winter scene.

Shoot info: 1 roll of B&W film, Tmax 100. Manual Hasselblad w/ 50 mm lens.

My stroll down the snowy path.
I had to get at least one shot of the snow covered pine tree.

I should mention the fun trip down the steps. With the fresh snowfall, there was a nice snow cover on the steps. Going down generally isn't a problem, going back up usually is. (For you savants out there...171 steps). This is the halfway point down the staircase to shore. I used a # 8 yellow filter to slightly darken the sky.

At the shore, I decided to go for the darker sky with a # 25 red filter. On thing
about snow covered rocks, the rock shapes underneath can be deceiving...
Yes, I wiped out to get this shot. Of course, the upside is that the snow acts
as a little cushion, so the fall wasn't too bad.
