Mindnumbing Facts
Date: January 17, 2004
Duration: Noon ~ 1:30 am
Weather: Overcast, chilly. Then sunny.

The park itself is located in the city of New Ulm.

This park is kinda curious. At first, I got the feeling it is more of a "city" park. The entrance is located smack dab in the middle of a residential section of New Ulm. The ranger was on the prowl in his ranger mobile. Oddly enough, there is a man-made, sand bottom swimming pool available for summer fun.

Also of note is the doorway at the side of the entrance sign. I wonder what's inside...

Shoot info: 1 roll of B&W film, Tmax 100. Manual Hasselblad w/ 50 mm lens.

Once I got past the "tourist" attractions, I was pleased to find
some nice hiking paths along the Cottonwood river.

I traveled back down to the river. I suppose branches frozen in water are to be expected in winter.

I always like it when the sun starts to come out.
I slapped on the #25 red fliter to get some drama out of the sky.
I opened the exposure by 3 stops to compensate for the filter factor.

There was some nice sun gleeming off the ice in this shot. I'm still trying to figure out where the streaking reflection off the ice was coming from...
