Mindnumbing Facts
Date: January 16, 2004
Duration: 12:30 pm ~ 2:30 pm
Weather: Heavy overcast, cold. A couple of snow flakes fell as I was leaving the park.

This is the first park I went to on my state park journeys. The park itself is located just outside of North Branch, a short drive away.

As you can see to the left, there was some snow on the ground, but it was primarily icy from melting and freezing from the warm/cold weather we had been having up to this point.

I shot 2 rolls of B&W film, Tmax 100, kinda old film (past its expiry date). I decided to start out the year putting one of my Hasselblads through its paces. The one used for this shoot was the manual . I used a 50 mm lens on all the images to get a slight wide angle feel.

A shot of the site of the now absent Nevers dam.

Here is a nice shot of ice as it was colliding with the shore. I spent a fair amount of time shooting this from several angles, This is the one I like the best.

I deliberately shot this for the "face" I saw in the pattern of the bark.

I saw this scene on my way out, I was struck by the lonely white tree surrounded by the darker trees. Ideally I would have liked to find an angle where the light was offset by dark towards the top of the trees, but a vista with that perspective wasn't in the cards.
